My daughter is in the UC system. Our income went over the ceiling for Cal Grant and Blue & Gold Opportunity but not by much and now we're on the cusp of taking a huge loan for this year. To add to my anxiety, our income will be lower this year but FAFSA is now going to use the previous year tax info which will be horrible for us. We don't have anything they list as an extenuating circumstance, no one lost a job or died, etc. but our income hovers around these ceilings and one day of working over time could mean that we can afford gas and groceries this week but might not qualify for these financial aid grants!
The financial aid office is really no help, I'm hoping someone here will have some amazing words of wisdom for us! Thank you!
